GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mr. Kenneth Vance Holbrook Sr., 70, of Greensboro passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Veterans Hospital in Durham, N.C. after a long struggle with diabetes. Kenneth has been received into the Lord's Heavenly Kingdom as another one of his Angels.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Briggs Memorial Baptist Church in McLeansville, N.C.
Kenneth was born on Sept. 29, 1943, in Wilkes County, N.C. to the late Lundy and Beatrice Sidden Holbrook. During the Vietnam War he served with the U.S. Air Force and rose to the rank of Sergeant. After returning home from the war he married Marlene Carol Duplissie, and they have been married now for 45 years. Kenneth has lived in this area since 1969 and was a retired mechanic from Classic Knitting Mills. He is a long time member of Briggs Memorial Baptist Church and helped with their Church Daycare for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Carol Holbrook; daughter, Cassandra Ward (John) and son, Kenneth Holbrook Jr.; sisters, Peggy Holbrook, Helen Wyatt (Willie) and Bonnie Brewer; brothers, Edward Holbrook and Paul Holbrook (Ann); and one grandson who was the light of his life, Spencer Ward. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Funeral Home in Greensboro.
