BURLINGTON - Mr. Kyle F. Stewart, 74, of 6860 Holts Store Road, passed away at 6:18 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
The Guest Book is expired.
A native of McColl, S.C., he was the husband of Anne Marley Stewart, who survives, and son of the late Posey E. Stewart and Lillian Harbour Stewart. An amazing husband, father, and friend. A true caregiver to his wife, Anne of 54 years, a dedicated firefighter for the City of Greensboro for 30 years and known best for his banana pudding. He was a member of Low's Lutheran Church. Gardening was his specialty – tomatoes, green beans and cantaloupes. You were encouraged to stop by at anytime and take a bagful. A man known for his wisdom. A man who would reach out and lend a hand without ever being asked. You will be missed by so many people.
Surviving, other than his wife of the home, are daughters, Susanne Stewart Crawford and husband Brent of Huntersville and Karen Stewart Bryant and husband Greg of Hendersonville; a son, Jeffrey Kyle Stewart of Nairobi, Kenya; sisters, Linda Plummer and husband Ernest of Greensboro and Burnell Vance and husband Frank of Emerald Isle; and six grandchildren, Morgan, Rachel, Erin, Adam, Nathan and Emma.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 7, at Low's Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Mark Beam III officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service at the church, and a reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Memorials may be made to Low's Lutheran Church, 2136 N.C. 61, Liberty, NC 27298 or to the Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
