BURLINGTON, N.C. - Lawrence "Larry" Matthews Walker, 54, of 411 Tryon Street, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014.

Larry was a native of Alamance County and was the son of the late Robert Jackson "Jack" Walker Sr. and Mary Jeanette Walker Walker, who survives.
Larry was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Hugh M. Cummings High School, Class of 1978. He was employed with UPS for over 21 years.
Larry was an active member of the Sons and Daughters of the 6th Marine Division, World War II, serving as an officer in public relations.
In addition to his mother, Mary Jeanette Walker, of the home, Larry is survived by a sister, Lynne Walker Warren and husband Dennis, of Burlington; two brothers, Robert Jackson Walker Jr. and wife Darla of Bradenton, Fla. and Luke Shawn Walker and wife Angela of Gibsonville; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 4 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Mitchell. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Victory Junction, 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
