BURLINGTON - Mr. Allen Franklin Carden, 69, of N.C. 62 North, Burlington, died Saturday, August 4, 2012, at his residence.
A native of Orange County, he was son of the late George Thomas Carden and Early Mozelle Pendergraph Carden. He was a former textile employee retiring in 2005. "Slim" enjoyed helping others, especially doing automotive work for family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Carden Mann and husband Roger of Burlington and Marie Carden Wahlers and husband Ronnie of Cedar Grove; two sons, David Allen Carden of Durham and Jerry Franklin Carden and wife Angie of Snow Camp; four sisters, Linda Doby and husband Marley of Graham, Debra Wilder and husband Mark of Burlington, Wanda Lloyd of Elon and Sue McKinney of Burlington; two brothers, Donnie Carden and wife Willie of Mebane and George T. "Mickey" Carden of Burlington; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a very special friend Penny.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Ellen Wagoner Carden; and a sister, Faye Carden Page.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, at Open Bible Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence of a daughter, Judy Mann, 4623 N.C. 49 North, Burlington.
