BURLINGTON - Ms. Barbara Jeffers, 73, of 403 Fulton St., died Nov. 28, 2013, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. Lorenzo Harvey and the late Mrs. Jennie B. Long Harvey, and was formerly married to the late Mr. James Edward Jeffers.
Barbara was a self-employed day care operator and a member of Johnson Chapel AME Church. She loved to cook and clean, yard sales and taking care of babies. She also loved spending time taking care of her flowers, family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Edwards Jeffers, of the home; two daughters, Sharon Denise "DeeDee" Jeffers, of the home, and Lisa Ann Jeffers, of Burlington; one brother, James Harvey, of Glen Raven; two sisters, Evangeline Kelly (Jack) of Fayetteville, and Annie Mae Gant (Delmer Gant Jr.) of Greensboro; an honorary sister, Peggy R. Curry (Jimmy Curry Sr.) of Green Level; a great aunt, Katie Long of Roxboro; seven grandchildren, Aishia, Anishia, Dominique, LeKendra, Jamison, Alexis and Anoree; one great-grandchild, Trejan; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Nixon.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. A wake will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel; the public viewing will be Monday from 1 to 6 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of 403 Fulton St., Burlington.
