MEBANE, N.C. - Mrs. Betty Joe Townsend Carver, 80, of 1015 Airport Road, Apt. 114, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2013 at 1:50 p.m. at Hospice Home in Burlington.

A native of Burke County, N.C., she retired as an assistant manager of Beef Burger and worked with Snead's Market and Grill in Mebane. Mrs. Carver was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah K. Hedrick of Hickory, N.C., Lora Collins and husband Max of Columbia, S.C. and Jaimie Rudder and husband Michael of Mebane; brothers, Alvin and Ralph Townsend, both of Connelly Springs, N.C.; sister, Pauline Mask of Connelly Springs; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Winford Carver; parents, David Ezekiel Townsend and Manikey Childers Townsend; brothers, Frank, Charlie and Billy Townsend; and sisters, Florence Berry, Mable Bollick and Ethel Robinson.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at Hebron United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bryan Sexton. The body will remain at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane until taken to the church for the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday and at other times at the home of daughter, Jaimie Rudder, 6431 Woodland Drive, Mebane, N.C. 27302.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton, N.C.
