WORCESTER, Mass. - Carl Anthony Belforti, 95, formerly of Hopedale, Mass., died on Oct. 23, 2013. Born on Nov. 4, 1917, to Antonio and Maria (Mazzini) Belforti, he was the husband of the late Helen (DiDonato) Belforti.
He leaves two daughters, Linda Hajek (Peter) of Burlington, Mary Bejune (Kenneth) of Worcester, Mass., a son, Carl Belforti Jr. of Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.; six grandchildren: Sandra, Scott and Kevin Hajek, Deborah (Hajek) Zugay, Daniel and Matthew Bejune, and three great-grandsons, Benjamin, Jacob and George Bejune. He also leaves one brother, Frederick, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Arthur, Eugene (Louis), Edward and George and two sisters Frances Gattozzi and Olga Belforti.
A veteran of World War II, Carl served overseas in the European Theater with the 34th Infantry Division, 133rd Regimental Combat Team. He was wounded twice and was awarded a Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster. A Charter and Life Member of the Lawrence J. Heron Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans of Milford, Mass., he served as Post Commander and Treasurer over many years of active service. He marched proudly in many Veterans and Memorial Day parades until five years ago. Carl graduated from Hopedale High School and retired from the former Draper Corp. where he was a foreman.
Mr. Belforti was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Worcester and was a founding member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Hopedale, Mass.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, MA, on Monday, Oct. 28, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Hopedale. Burial will be at Hopedale Village Cemetery.
