Carl James Wiles, 75, of Mebane, lost his battle to cancer on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, after an extended illness and went to be with his Heavenly Father.
Carl was honorably discharged from the National Guard in 1955. He was a former employee of Craftique Inc., former owner and operator of Wiles Refinishing Shop of Burlington. He retired from Carolina Biological.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Wiles; son, Mike Wiles; sister, Frances Griffin; brother, Bernard Wiles; and his parents, Dewey and Edna Wiles.
He is survived by his daughter, Martha "Sissy" Barefoot and husband, Curtis Barefoot; granddaughter, Amy Brown; grandson, Dustin Wiles; sisters, Peggy DeVos, Mikie Calder and Elsie Blevins; brother, Tommy Wiles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Words cannot express the generosity and compassion Carl showed others. He was a master craftsman and professional in his field and will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at the McClure Funeral Service Chapel in Mebane at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 prior the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
