BURLINGTON - Mrs. Caroline Rea Gormley Yates, 86, formerly of Graham, passed away at 10:53 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2013, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

A native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, she was the wife of the late Arnie Eugene Yates, Sr. and daughter of the late Houston Gormley and Emily Reid Gormley. Mrs. Yates retired as a clerk at Western Electric. She attended Northside Presbyterian Church and was a member of Graham Nazarene Church and a member of the British War Brides.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Yates Sharpe (Rickey B.) of Burlington; four grandchildren, Sean Yates, Brian Yates, Tanya Sharpe (Rickie) and Lisa Sharpe Oakes (Greg); four great grandchildren, Erika Lacks (John), Morgan Lacks, Brooke Oakes and Sydney Oakes; one great-great grandson, Matthew Perkins; and one daughter-in-law, Debbie Yates.
Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by a son, Arnie Eugene Yates, Jr., two sisters and three brothers.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington with the Rev. Jim Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m., at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington prior to the service and other times at the residence of Rickey and Connie Sharpe, 2824 Huffman Mill Road, Burlington.
