BURLINGTON - Mr. Clifford T. Foster, Jr., 85 of Burlington died at Select Specialty Hospital in Greensboro on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 8 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Alice Mae Collier Foster and the son of Clifford Thurman Foster, Sr. and Ethel Mildred Combs Foster, both deceased. He graduated from Burlington High School and N. C. State University. Cliff was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as 1st Lieutenant. He was formerly employed with Esso Corporation for several years and later became a chemistry teacher. Cliff taught Chemistry, Advance Chemistry and Physics at Williams High School for 32 years and Science and Math in Durham for one year. He was the Advisor of the Junior Civitans while teaching high school. He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men and a Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include his son, Bruce A. Foster (Jane Penny); daughter, Cynthia F. Hennigan (husband Bill); grandson, Christopher W. Hennigan; granddaughter, Rachel A. Hennigan; brother, Larry Foster; one niece; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Diana Hennigan and brother, Stephen Foster.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held at Davis Street United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. with the Rev. Ellen McCubbin and Dr. Michael Hobbs, presiding.
Still teaching students after his death, Cliff requested his body to be donated to Duke University School of Anatomy.
