DURHAM - Clifton L. McCotter Jr., of Durham, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Hock Family Pavilion, Durham. Born in Craven County, Clifton was the son of the late Clifton L. McCotter Sr. and Julia Davis McCotter. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Parker McCotter. Mr. McCotter retired from Duke after 30 years as a systems analyst, and he was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Panama during the Korean Conflict. Mr. McCotter was a member of Duke Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mr. McCotter is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret McCotter; sisters, Mollie Brown and husband James, and Margaret "Peggy" Martin and husband, Michael; grandchildren, David P. McCotter Jr. and wife, Rebekah, Douglas J. McCotter, Kimberly S. McCotter, Hope A. McCotter, Faith N. McCotter and Charity A. McCotter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Maurice Ritchie and Dr. Rick Finley officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from
7 to 9 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home, Durham. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Academy Scholarship Fund, 515 Southerland St., Durham NC 27703.
