BURLINGTON - Mr. Donal Keith Dennis, 75, of Burlington, died at home on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 3:30 p.m.
Born and raised in Gibsonville, he was the son of Clyde Bennett Dennis and Margaret Schoolfield Dennis, both deceased. He graduated from Gibsonville High School and Elon College. Keith spent the majority of his career in textile sales as well as co-owner of MoreThan Gifts with his wife. He was very involved in N. C. Swimming and was awarded the 2000 Thomas J. Lynch Award for service as a volunteer. He also served as General Chairman of the N. C. Swimming from 1977-1981. Keith was recognized by the Burlington City Council for promotion and organization of the NCNB Top Banana Swim Meet.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Faye Young Dennis of the home; two sons, Donal Kevin Dennis and wife Beth of Wilmington and Jason Kell Dennis of Burlington; sister, Cheryl Dennis Melton and husband Jim of Burlington, brother-in-law, Jim Young and wife Pam of Elon, many loving, supporting nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, his boxer Sadie.
A graveside service will be conducted in Gibsonville City Cemetery on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. by his niece, Pastor Alison Folwell and the Rev. Jonathan Marlowe.
At other times, the family will be at the residence, 2035 Nottingham Lane, Burlington, N.C.
