BURLINGTON - Donald R. "Dink" Handy, 74, died Dec. 29, 2012, at 1:55 a.m. at Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell after several years of failing health.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed many outdoor hobbies, including beekeeping, raising and showing rabbits, woodworking in the shop and gardening.
Donald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn N. Handy, of the home; daughters, Elaine Jefferies, of Burlington, and Cheryl Dalton, of Burlington; sisters, Betty Thorpe, of Pfafftown, and Janice Handy, of Gibsonville; a brother, Robert Handy, of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Tyler Dalton and Heather Burch; and great-grandchildren, Taylor MacCrae and Jordyn MacCrae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Stella Handy.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. James Moon presiding over the service. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church before the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
