SWEPSONVILLE - Mr. Donald Reid Massey, 71, of Swepsonville died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Sandra Jones Massey, who survives and son of Preston Phillip Massey and Maggie Oakley Massey, both deceased. He retired from H. G. Strickland Corporation and was a former member of Swepsonville Fire Department. He was an avid Carolina fan and NASCAR fan.
In addition to his wife of Swepsonville, survivors include a daughter, Tammy M. Robertson and husband Andrew of Cary; son, Tony Massey and wife Renee of Haw River; four grandchildren, Garett Robertson, Jordan Massey, Hunter Massey and Lauren Massey; two sisters, Polly Hillard of Burlington and Mildred Copeland of California; and a brother, John Massey and wife Bobbie of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosaline Stegall and Mae Rudd and four brothers, Preston "Buck" Massey, Ray Massey, Melvin Massey and Millard Massey.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Bob Cauthren.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence of the son at 4040 Salem Church Road, Haw River, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
