Mr. Edgar Lee Hartgrove Sr., 88, of 1330 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, S.C., formerly of Burlington, N.C., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Westminster Health and Rehab Center, Rock Hill, S.C.

Born in Yadkin, N.C. on August 12, 1925 to the late W.R. and Lillie Hartgrove, he was the husband of Doris Turner Hartgrove.
He retired from Duke Energy after 35 years. He served at multiple locations in North and South Carolina ending his career with 15 years as District Manager at Burlington, N.C.
He was a graduate of NC State University and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, of the home, his survivors include two sons, Ed Hartgrove Jr. (Martha) of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Forrest Hartgrove (Sally) of Rock Hill, S.C.; six grandchildren, Rebecca Dixson (Matt) of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jay Hartgrove (Amanda) of Daphne, Ala., Mary Beth Hartgrove of Charlotte, N.C., Lindsey Hartgrove of Houston, Texas, Ian Hartgrove of Rock Hill, S.C. and Anna Katherine Hartgrove of Charlotte, N.C., five great-grandchildren, one sister, Rachel Shackleford of Greensboro, N.C. and two brothers, Dennis and Jimmy Hartgrove, both of King, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and seven brothers.
Services will be held Friday, Feb. 7 at the First Baptist Church of Burlington, N.C. at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service in the Gathering Place. A private burial will be at King Memorial Park, King, N.C.
