Mrs. Emily Arvin Guthrie, of 234 Guthrie Road, Blanch, N.C. died Saturday, March 2, 2013, after a decline in health for several years.

Mrs. Guthrie was born October 4, 1926 in Person County, N.C., the daughter of the late Willie Clyde Arvin and the late Elizabeth Howard Arvin. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Yanceyville, N.C. and retired from the Yanceyville Drug Company in 2005 after 39 years of service. She married Elwood Guthrie on December 23, 1944, with whom she shared 68 wonderful years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Kenneth Guthrie (Connie), Mitchell Guthrie, and James Guthrie; one daughter, Linda Palmer (Marty) all of Blanch, N.C., one sister, Annie Lee Johnson of Raleigh, N.C., five grandchildren, Carol Boaz (Billy), Wayne Turner (Sheri), Jerry Lawson, Bart Lawson , Nicholas Lawson; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Clyde Arvin and Wesley Arvin; also two sisters, Evelyn Denny and Catherine Arvin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from First Baptist Church in Yanceyville with the Rev. Stanley Hare and the Rev. Ricky Foster officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 4, 2013, from Wrenn-Yeatts Memorial Funeral Home, Yanceyville, N.C. from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m,; and other times at the residence, 234 Guthrie Road, Blanch, N.C.
The family wish to thank the nurses and staff of Caswell County Health Agency for their compassionate care; especially Amanda Arnold and Lauren Neighbors that she truly loved.
