GRAHAM - Mrs. Florence E. Wood Griffin, 90, of 3372 N.C. 87 South died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at 5 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Clifton Griffin Jr. for 54 years and the daughter of John Henry Wood and Ann Coble Wood, both deceased. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church. She was an employee of Annedeen Hosiery for over 40 years and later retired from Ausley Florist in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry S. Griffin and wife Kay and Douglas W. Griffin and wife Angela, all of Graham; three granddaughters, Dr. Windy Griffin, Kasey Griffin Carter and Rebecca Griffin; grandson, Clifton James Griffin; two great-granddaughters, Kaylea and Allye Carter; great-grandson, Tyler Carter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Willie Wood, Eliza Thompson, Mary Foust and Murl Brooks; and seven brothers, George, Vincent, Tommie, Coley, Don, and Dan Wood and an infant baby brother.
The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Rick Moser, the Rev. Tom Miller and the Rev. Tony Honeycutt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence of Jerry Griffin, 3152 N.C. 87 South, Graham, N.C. 27253.
