Floyd Leon Alston Jr., 69, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at 6:02 p.m. at his residence.
He was a loving father, brother, and friend to all.
He was employed for 36 years through Burlington Industries and Melton Industrial Truck as a mechanic. He also owned and operated Leon's Lawn Service for more than 20 years.
He enjoyed fishing, vacationing, and spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for classic cars. For many years, he was a judge at classic car shows. He also loved drag racing.
He attended St. Matthew's AME Church of Saxaphaw.
Survivors include daughter, Carla Alston; sisters, Phyllis A. Walker and husband, Jerry, of Graham, and Kernice Swepson and husband, Doug, of Graham; brothers, James Robert Alston of Graham, Harold Dean Alston of Graham and David L. Alston and wife, Gladys, of Atlanta; a host of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd Alston Sr. and Ruth Stone Alston.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane. And other times at the residence.
A service will be conducted on Monday, June 25, at McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane at 11 a.m. at Farr-Marr Cemetery with the Revs. Daisy Long and Angela Lloyd officiating.
