BURLINGTON - Mrs. Geneva Celesta Massey Evans, age 89, of Burlington, passed away on August 31, 2014 at her home after a sudden illness.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Jefferson Massey and the late Esther Mae Rascoe Massey and was married for over 66 years to Mr. William Foy Evans, who survives. Geneva retired from a career in the textile industry and was a longtime member of the First Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband of the home; children, Rev. Norman Evans and his wife, Linda, of New Bern, NC, Vannessa E. Brammer of Burlington, Justine E. Robare of Raleigh and Melissa Evans of Haw River; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Wright of Burlington and Phoebe Harrison of Elon; and a brother, Rascoe Massey of Yanceyville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ethleen Walker and Josephine Stainback; and a brother, James Massey.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church by Rev. Tim Robinson. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. Geneva and my mother, Annie Massey Riley, were cousins. I remember Mother talking about Uncle Rufus. Elmo Massey was her father. May God comfort each of you. Brenda Riley Ray
