BURLINGTON - Mrs. Hazel Stadler Leath, 95, of Wade Coble Drive, Burlington died at the Coble Healthcare Center at Twin Lakes Community on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at 6:20 p.m. She spent almost 30 years of her life there, exploring every level of care during that time. She and her husband Jack were one of the original couples to live on the old Wesley Court.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late John B. "Jack" Leath Sr. and the daughter of Andrew J. Stadler and Bertha K. Stadler, both deceased.
Hazel considered her most important job in this life to be caring for her family. She was a devoted mom, grandmother, wife and homemaker. Many hours of her time were spent assisting her family in their endeavors and activities. However, her love and dedication also reached out to friends and community. For over 30 years, Hazel served as a Pink Lady at Alamance County Hospital and the Alamance Memorial Hospital when it was built. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington where she taught and supported Training Union and Sunday school programs. She was a founding member and past president of The Centennial Garden Club. Hazel and her husband Jack were involved in the planning of and were original members of the Alamance Country Club. One of Hazel's greatest loves was music, especially tunes from the classic musical films. But her favorite songs were the old hymns and Christmas carols. She passed this precious legacy of "love of song" to her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Leath Walton and husband Don of Gibsonville; a son, John B. Leath Jr. and wife Martha of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Sarah Jane Leath of Twin Lakes Community and Lucy H. Leath of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Deborah W.
