HAW RIVER - Mr. Houston Lee Bigelow, 68, passed away on Oct. 5, 2012, at his home on James Boswell Road. He was the son of the late Mr. Ned Lee Bigelow Jr. and the late Mrs. Mary Frances Turner Bigelow.
He is survived by two sons, Clinton Lee Bigelow (Suzanne), of Detroit, Mich., and Kevin Bigelow, of Burlington; one brother, Walter Coleman Bigelow, of Yanceyville; three sisters, Martha C. Watkins (Thomas), of Yanceyville, Frances G. Williamson (Gunnie), of Burlington, and Brenda B. Poteat, of Mebane; one sister-in-law, Vanessa Bigelow, of Burlington; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse James Bigelow and William Arnzo Bigelow; and two sisters, Dorothy Watlington and Eva E. Watkins.
He was retired from Burlington Industries. He loved gardening, repairing old cars and building picnic tables and was a carpenter.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012. The body will lie in the church from 10 to 11 a.m. with the family arriving for visitation at
10:30 a.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home. A public viewing will be held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel.
The burial will be held at Sweet Gum Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, 1292 Rauhut St., Burlington.
