BURLINGTON - Mrs. Jacqueline Perry Matlock, 90, of Cedar Ridge Retirement Community, died at the Hospice Home Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at 12:42 p.m. following a short illness.

A native of Lexington, N.C., she was the wife of the late Carey Rufus Matlock and the daughter of Donald Hugh Perry and Gladys Jones Simpson, both deceased.
She was an Assistant Director of Admissions at Elon College for 40 years. She was also an avid bridge player and active in many book and garden clubs. Jacqueline was a member of Elon Community Church, United Church of Christ, where she was a deacon, church secretary and member of the church circle.
Survivors include a son, Ronald C. Matlock and wife Jan of Marietta, Ga.; daughter, Kay Matlock of Carrboro; granddaughter, Andria Matlock Dobson and husband Bryan of Scotland Neck, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, David and Caroline Dobson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Gividen.
The funeral service will be conducted at Elon Community Church, United Church of Christ, on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Randy Orwig. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
