MEBANE - Mr. James Bryant Bowman, 86, of 1812 N. Jim Minor Road, Haw River, NC, died 1:45 p.m. Friday December 20, 2013 at the Hospice Home of Burlington after 1 year of declining health. Born in Guilford County, NC he was the son of the late John Cleveland Bowman and Tishie Friddle Bowman and husband of the late Alma Harrison Bowman. James was retired from AT&T, member of the Calvary Baptist Church, a former member of the Piedmont Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 30 years. He was a very active member of the Sunshine Bowling League, active participant and board member of Burlington Senior Games and member of the Slo-Moes Softball Team.

The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home 1308 S. Third Street, Mebane, NC on Monday, December 23, 2013 from 1 pm until 2:30 pm with the service being held in the McClure Chapel at 3:00 pm. The Reverend Ernest Beck and the Reverend Johnnie Wright will officiate with burial to follow in the Graham Memorial Park. The family at other times will be at the residence.
James is survived by his daughters Shelby Kueider and husband Steve, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death other than his wife and parents are a daughter Kay Bowman, sisters Nettie Brown, Martha Williams and Annie Mae Bowman, brothers Hoyt Bowman, Charlie Bowman, Lewis Bowman, Glyn Bowman.
The family offers a special thank you to Alamance Regional Medical Center, Liberty Commons and Hospice for their love and care given to James.
The family requests the bowling league members, AT&T retirees and all athletic friends to sit as a group as honorary pallbearers at the service.
