MEBANE - Mr. James Elder Carmichael, 72, died Dec. 12, 2012 at 5:42 a.m. at Peak Resources in Graham, N.C.

He worked his whole life at Dixie Yarns in Mebane and was an active member of the Hillsborough Moose Lodge.
Survivors include daughters, Sherby Wood (Mike) of Efland, Roxanne Forsythe (David) of Henderson, and Theresa Kontoulas (Greg) of Haw River; son, Keith Carmichael (Deborah) of Efland; brothers, Gene Carmichael (Gerda) and Wilson Carmichael, all of Mebane, and Wesley Carmichael (Sally) of Supply, N.C.; sisters, Evelyn Palumbo (David) of Richmond, Va., Peggy Lunsford (Coy) of Prospect Hill and Robin Younger (Chris) of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kristie Jones (Mike) of Burlington, Tina Wood of Efland, Timothy Kontoulas (Audrey) of Graham, Matthew Forsythe of Henderson, Christopher Kontoulas (Callie) of Graham and Keirah Carmichael of Efland; great-grandchildren, Tate Jones, Bailey Jones and Parker Kontoulas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lacy Willard Carmichael and Dora Webster Carmichael.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane, N.C. by the Rev. Odell Link. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
