BURLINGTON - Mr. James Hayward McBroom, 71, of 2528 Anderson Road, died at the Hospice Home on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at 8:40 p.m. following three years of declining health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Lenward McBroom and Farie Lee Covington
McBroom, both deceased. He retired from the textile industry.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Mary Elizabeth Rogers; a daughter, Edie LaShawn McBroom, of Graham; three sons, KoRay Romero Savage, of Burlington, Sheldon Brian McBroom and wife, Angela, of Greensboro and Stacey Hayward
McBroom and wife, Rochelle, of Winston-Salem; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie Mae McBroom Yarborough, of Mebane and Dorothy Faye McBroom Spence, of Green Level; two brothers, Linwood John Earl
McBroom and wife, Daisy, of Burlington and Thurman Lee McBroom and wife, Barbara Jean, of Maryland; four aunts, Adean
McBroom, Zula Covington, Doris Kimber and Dora Kimber; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. by Mr. Carson White. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
