Jean H. Braswell, 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Oct. 17.

She was born in Raleigh, N.C. on Feb. 17, 1928 to James Clyde and Eugenia Johnson Hunter. Jean graduated from Monroe High School and Business School in Monroe, N.C. where she met and married her husband of 39 years, Carl McDowell Braswell.
Jean was a long time member of the Forum Sunday School Class and an active member of United Methodist Women at Centenary United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother volunteering many years as a Girl Scout leader in Greensboro. She was also active in the Dellwood Garden Club. She was an avid reader, loved the beach and her family.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Cleone Gordon; and brother, Caston Hunter.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Black, of Burlington; son-in-law, John; two granddaughters, Lauren DeAlto (Nick) and Miriam Black; and great-granddaughter, Alexis DeAlto. She is also survived by six nieces and nephew.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 2300 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, N.C. 27403. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
