BURLINGTON - John Thomas Carver Jr., 83, passed away, Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Liberty Commons surrounded by his family.
He was born in Person County to the late John Thomas Carver Sr. and the late Hallie Mae Carver and was married to the late Doris Marie Harris Carver who died in 1984.
John was a former employee with Burlington Industries and retired from GKN. He was an EMT with the Alamance County EMS and was a volunteer with the Alamance County Rescue. John was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, the Alamance County Rescue Senior Members and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include a son and daughters-in-law, Dale and Shannon Carver, Ellen Huffines Carver; grandchildren, Michele Carver, Kerri C. Mumford and husband TJ and Hannah Carver. The family would like to send a special thank you to John's sisters-in-law, Nadine Carver and Linda Ray for the love and care that was shown to their daddy.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Thomas Keith Carver; brothers, Lewis, Clarence, J.W., Percy, Lester, Ernest and Earlie Carver; sisters, Clara Lee and Nettie Matthews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Hobbs and the Rev. Curtis Oakley, with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Alamance County Rescue, P.O. Box 615, Graham, NC 27253.
The family would like for the Alamance County Rescue Seniors, current members, Durham County EMS and Orange County EMS to serve as honorary pallbearers.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. John was a very kind man, willing to help everyone and is now being rewarded for his good works. I knew him when I was with ACR.

I was saddened to read about John. When I joined Ala. Co. Rescue he was a member. He will be missed. He was always kind to me and helped me in any way he could. My prayers are with the family.
