BURLINGTON - Mrs. Johnnie Mae Keener Gilbert, 87, of 791 Boone Station Drive, Burlington, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitiation Center.

She was born in Newport News, Virginia. She worked as a babysitter and was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary "Jinks" Thompson of Haw River, North Carolina; grandchildren Tracie Jackson, Donna Walker (Brian), Mike Thompson and Tammy Conklin (Robbie); great-grandchildren Kayla Kennedy, Kelly Jackson, Branden Kennedy, Travis Johnson, Landon Walker, Chris Conklin and Brian Conklin; great-great-grandson Noah Wolfe; and sisters Nora Scarborough and Jean White, both of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gilbert; a daughter, Sue Thompson; her parents, Fred and Mattie Stillwell Keener; sisters Arie Carson and Ethel Carson; and a brother, Fred Keener.
The funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11 at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, with Dr. Russell Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Other times, they will be at the residence of Mary Thompson at 1357 Haywood Street, Haw River, NC.
