BURLINGTON - Johnny Philton Atkinson, 48, of 1506 Morningside Drive passed away peacefully on Friday Oct. 12 due to an unexpected illness.
Phil was born Feb. 17, 1964 in Alamance County, son of the late John Alexander and Florence Burnette Atkinson. He was employed by Sweepstakes South Main Biz. Center and also helped survey land part time.
He is survived by his sister Jeanene Atkinson Wilson and husband, Mike; nephew: Matthew Dane Chilton and wife, Olivia; niece, Alyse Wilson; great-nephew, Andrew Chilton; great-niece, Andrea Chilton. He also leaves behind long time girlfriend Carol Lloyd and her three daughters Jenna, Amber and Katelyn and their children, Moriah and Anthony.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Zion Christian Church by the Rev. Rick Webster on Sunday Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to be made in his name to Walker's Funeral Home in Mebane.
