SNOW CAMP - Joseph Kent Walker of Snow Camp, N.C., died at home on Aug. 16, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. Born in Graham, N.C. in 1941, the eldest son of Ebb and Sybil Walker, Kent graduated from Graham High School.

Married for thirty-nine years to Ellen Keenan Walker, they had one daughter. A U.S. Army veteran, he lived most of his adult life in Alamance County, working as a heavy equipment operator with Walker Brothers Grading and landscaping at Pureflow, Inc. In 2008, he was honored with the Business Beautification Appearance Award for Alamance County and treasured every moment spent outdoors. In his later years, Kent found his greatest joy in caring for his yard and garden and spending time with his loved ones.
Kent is survived by his wife, Ellen Keenan Walker; daughter, Jennifer Duell Walker; sister, Judy Walker Hayes (Tommy Hayes); and two brothers, Gregg and Barry Walker. Kent left numerous extended family members to mourn his loss: aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and the Fish House Gang.
A graveside service will be held at the Graham Memorial Park in Graham, N.C., on Sunday Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends afterward at their home in Snow Camp, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors, Loaves and Fishes or to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance County.
