BLANCH - Mr. Joseph Miles, 74, of 2527 Stephentown Road, died Jan. 1, 2013 at his residence.

He was the son of Mr. John Miles and Mrs. Lula Bell Garland Miles, both deceased, and formerly married to Mrs. Daisy Miles. Unto this union were born two children.
Mr. Miles retired from Dan River Mills and was a member of High Rock Baptist Church. He loved to work on cars, loved his family and helping others in whatever way he could, was "attorney-in-law" for the grandboys and offered advice to anyone who would listen.
Survivors include foster son, Kevin Richmond (Jennifer) of Burlington, N.C.; daughters, Veronica Faith Miles of Danville, Va. And Laura Miles Chandler of Suffolk, Va.; foster daughter, Tiffany Richmond of Semora, N.C.; brothers, John Miles, Jr. (Ruedell) of Yanceyville, N.C. and Earl Miles of Blanch, N.C.; sister, Verus Knight of Blanch, N.C.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five foster grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Myles Chandler.
The public viewing will be Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 from 2 until 8 p.m. in the Mary Adelaide Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington, N.C. At other times the family will be at the home of Mr. Earl Miles.
The funeral will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at High Rock Baptist church, with the Rev. Paul Robinson delivering the eulogy. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service with family visitation from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
