MEBANE - Leonard Grady Strickland, 80, of 1359 Stone St., passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Hospice Home.

A native of Tunnel Hill, Ga., he was the husband of Peggy Jean Neese Strickland. Grady was a member of the American Legion and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a route salesman for Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Jean Neese Strickland, of the home; daughter, Carol S. Smith and husband Garland of Liberty; sons, Keith Strickland of Mebane, Curtis Strickland of Snow Camp and Kenneth Strickland of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammy Demick; and sister, Mary Alice Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Strickland will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral service. At other times the family will be at the residence.
Following the interment service, the family will return to Lowe Funeral Home, where they will host a reception for family and friends.
