GREENSBORO - Mr. Lewis Lee Gilley, 91, of 308 Meadowview Road, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at the Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro after a brief illness.
Mr. Gilley was a U.S. Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, having served during World War II with the 320 Infantry, Company F.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Maedell Peningar Gilley, of Greensboro; daughters, Barbara Gilley Greeson and husband Joe of Lexington and Nellie Gilley Krawietz of Graham; son, the Rev. Bobby Lee Gilley and wife Betty of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Lee Gilley and Bessie Overman Gilley.
The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 from 2 until 3 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. by Dr. Bill Sheeks. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
