BURGAW - Mrs. Lottie Pruitt Murrie, 93, of Burgaw died at Pender Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.

A native of Wake County, she was the wife of the late Ira Carrigan Murrie and the daughter of George Robert Pruitt and Sallie Myers Pruitt, both deceased. She lived her entire life in Burlington, until recently when she moved to Burgaw to be closer to her family. Lottie retired from Western Electric and formerly taught Ballroom dancing. She was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was also a member of the Twin Lakes Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Isley Cowan and husband Pete of Burgaw; a stepson, Robert Murrie and wife Sherry of Roswell, Ga.; two grandsons, Chip DeVoto and wife Sherri and Scott DeVoto and wife Kim; a step-grandson, Justin Murrie and wife Jenny; a step-granddaughter, Heather Arcia and husband Jason; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Anna DeVoto and Georgia and Reese Murrie.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Isley DeVoto; son-in-law, Charles DeVoto; two brothers, Walker Leonard Pruitt and George Robert Pruitt Jr.; and a sister, Charlotte Pruitt Bivens.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes Community on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at noon by the Rev. Mark Menees with the family receiving friends following the service.
