MEBANE - Ms. Lucille Thaxton Bigelow Richmond, 93, of 6608 Burtons Chapel Road, died Feb. 16, 2013 at Hospice of Alamance- Caswell.

She was the wife of the late Mr. Arthur Bigelow and daughter of Mr. Walter Thaxton and Mrs. Carrie Richmond Thaxton, both deceased. She was retired from R.E. Boone Dry Cleaners after 15 years of service. She was also a member of Burtons Chapel Church for 76 years and served on the Missionary Circle as president and treasurer, and served as president of the Senior Choir. In 1952 she joined the Pastor's Aid and served as president. Lucille's Missionary work covered eight churches for 14 years.
Survivors include sons, Clinton Bigelow, Haywood Bigelow and Arnold Ray Bigelow, all of Burlington; daughter, Jurley Johnson of Burlington; stepchildren, Peggy Carrie and John Richmond; sister, Mabell Clayton of Roxboro; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Blackwell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home. At other times the family will receive visitors and friends at the home of Arnold Ray Bigelow, 4517 N.C. 62 North, Burlington.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Burtons Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Boswell providing the eulogy. The body will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. at the church with the family arriving at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in Burtons Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington.
