BURLINGTON - Mr. Marvin W. Dickey, 71, formerly of Hillsborough, died at the Hospice Home on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 1:45 p.m.

A native of Orange County, he was the son of Joe Herley Dickey Sr. and Betty Jean Wrenn Dickey, both deceased. He was a former maintenance supervisor at Cone Mills. Marvin was a member of the Exchange Club and loved to play golf.
Marvin was a sweet, loving, big-hearted man who is survived by two daughters, Kay Dickey and Melanie Dickey, both of Burlington; brother, Joe Dickey of Buckhannon, W.Va.; two sisters, Judy Brown and husband Mike of Hickory and Sharon Burkhead and husband Grayling of Hillsborough; four nephews; three nieces; 12 great-nieces and nephews; five great-great-nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cathy Ward, of Haw River.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
