HAW RIVER –- Mrs. Mary P. "Tiny" Scoggins, 85, of 109 North Spray Place, Haw River, died at the Hospice Home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 5:55 p.m.

A native of Durham County, she was the wife of the late Lewis H. Scoggins and the daughter of Claud S. Pickford and Sue Ida Reid Pickford, both deceased. She loved animals and cared for many animals. She was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include a son, Lewis H. Scoggins Jr. and wife Juanita of Fayetteville; daughter, Brenda Scoggins Toney of the home; four grandchildren, Charles J. Toney III of the home, Mary L. Atwell and husband Derek of Waxhaw, N.C., Amanda Cousins of Greensboro and Lewis H. Scoggins III of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Atwell, Landon Atwell and Delaney Atwell.
She was preceded in death by a son, Aubrey "Buster" Scoggins; a brother, Aubrey O. Pickford, 2nd Lieutenant, U.S. Army; and granddaughter, Tiffany Scoggins.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Walter Jones. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Mebane, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
