Melba Evelyn Talley Cox, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Edgewood Place at the Village of Brookwood.

A native of Caswell County, Mrs. Cox was born Jan. 24, 1930, to the late Myrtle Alice Warren Talley and the late Morris Daniel Talley. She was the wife of the late Edward Lee Cox.
Mrs. Cox was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church and was active for many years. She retired from Gilbarco in Greensboro and worked at Cabisco Federal Credit Union in Elon for the last 13 years.
Mrs. Cox is survived by four children, Wilma Sasser of Raleigh, Bobbie Wilkerson and her husband, Page, of Alton, Virginia, Randy Cox and his wife, Louise, of Burlington and Joanne Turner of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Joe Wilkerson and his wife, Kathryn Brooke, of South Boston, Va., Anna Shotwell and her husband, Kevin, of Alton, Va., Brian Wilkerson of Alton, Va., Brooke Spires and her husband, Chris, of Morrisville, N.C., Allison Turner of Graham, Chandler Cox, Mary Alice Cox and Katherine Cox, all of Burlington; three great-grandchildren, Page Elizabeth Shotwell, Anna Kathryn Shotwell and Kathryn Bailey Wilkerson; one sister, Edith Vuncannon and her husband, Gene, of Burlington and many nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Larry Vuncannon of Denver, N.C. and Kraig Vuncannon of Ellerbee, N.C.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Cox and two brothers, Coy Talley and John Talley.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dale O. Steele. The family will receive friends following the service. There will be a private family burial prior to the service.
The family will meet at the home of Randy and Louise Cox at 420 Fieldstone Drive on Friday afternoon and immediately following the service on Saturday.
