GIBSONVILLE, N.C. - Millie Dennis Millikan, 98, formerly of Ingle Street in Gibsonville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at Ashton Place, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Randolph County to the late Doom Hayes Dennis and Etta Jones Dennis. She was the wife of the late Millis W. Millikan.
Millie retired from Tower Hosiery Mills after many years. She was a member of Gibsonville Christian Church, where she was the former church pianist. She was a youth Sunday School teacher and sang in a quartet at the church for many years. Millie enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family and friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Wilma Hadley and husband Charles of Greensboro; sons, Phillip Millikan and wife Pat of Elon and Gary Millikan of Burlington; grandchildren, Tommy (Rochelle) Millikan, Donna (Donnie) Meadors, Michael (Cathy) Millikan, Stephen Millikan, Chris Millikan, Diana (Craig) Foster, Darren (Elizabeth) Hadley and Deborah Swainey; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, David Millikan; granddaughter, Darla Hadley; and six brothers and sisters.
The Millikan family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Ashton Place for their kind and compassionate care for Millie.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Gibsonville Christian Church by the Rev. William Baker, the Rev. Hobart Isley and the Rev. Dale Matthews. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and at other times at the home of her son, Phillip Millikan. There will be a private burial at Alamance Memorial Park.
