MEBANE - Ms. Queen Esther Wiley Dark, 74, of 7204 Eliza Lane, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
She was the daughter of the late Dan Wiley and the late Zephyr Fuller Wiley and was formerly married to Forest Dark Sr. She loved to sing, read and work in the flower gardens. She sang in the choir and served on the usher and missionary board.
She is survived by four sons, Earl Thomas Wiley of the home, Forest Dark Jr. of the home, Lewis Dark of Graham and Don Dark of Raleigh; three daughters, Kathy Wiley of Burlington, Phyllis Dark Evans (Walter) of Mebane and Sharon Crisp of Burlington; two brothers, Willie Wiley of Haw River and Curtis Fuller of Burlington; four sisters, Anne Williams of Hillsborough, Patricia Jackson (Ricky) of Durham and Lillie Wiley of Hillsborough; Beatrice Beasley (June) of Hillsborough; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Andrew Wiley; five brothers, K.C. Wiley, Roman Fuller, Dan Wiley Jr., S.T. Wiley and Robert Wiley; and two sisters, Dorothy Ann Fuller and Mary Chavis.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Johnson's Chapel AME Church, 431 Woodlawn Road, Mebane NC 27302, with the Rev. Larry McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Hester Grove Church cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church prior to the service. The family will arrive at the church at
2:30 p.m. Public viewing will be Monday, May 20, 2013 from 1 until 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington. At other times the family will receive visitors and friends at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Dark Evans, 307 Walker Drive, Mebane.
