REIDSVILLE - Ms. Virginia Poteat, of 1749 Stoney Creek School Road, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in the Hospice Home of Alamance in Burlington, N.C.
She was a native of Caswell County, the daughter of the late Ruffin Poteat and Emma Poteat, born March 30, 1937. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, where she was a Deaconess. She also served on the Usher Ministry, Missionary Ministry, Fellowship Fund Ministry and the Pastors Aid. She was a member of the NAACP.
She was a employee of Unifi in Reidsville and Stoney Creek Elementary School in the after school care before retirement.
Her survivors are a daughter, April Poteat of the home; one sister, Mary Harris of the home; one brother, Ruffin L. Poteat of Pelham; one foster sister, Jessie Totten of Reidsville; nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Fulton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church. Pastor Jerry Wilson will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family visitation will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. before funeral services at the church.
