GRAHAM - Myrtle Payne Isley, 85, of The Oaks of Alamance, died on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at The Oaks of Alamance.
A native of Alamance County, she was first the wife of the late H. Elmer Isley who died in 1970 and then in 1980, she married the late Wilson B. Isley who died in 2001. She was the daughter of George Anderson Payne and Ava Vestal Payne, both deceased. Myrtle retired from BB&T and later from New South Lumber. She was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church. She received the Boy Scouts of America Mentor's Award in 2005.
She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Murray and husband J.M III, Joyce Sexton and husband Jim, Linda Isley, and Laurie Thompson, all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Jeremy Murray, Bruce Isley and wife Lisa, Tricia Sexton Pope and husband Chad, Ryan Sexton and wife Juley, Amber Thompson, and Raymond Thompson; six great-grandchildren; a sister Joy Walker and husband Andy of Gibsonville; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Boone of Burlington; several nieces and nephews; a special roommate at The Oaks, Camellia Dixon; and special friends, Bernice Sellars, Britt Smith, and Linda Brewer.
A funeral service will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Steve Loy and the Rev. Stephen Flint. Burial will follow at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence of Elizabeth and J.M. Murray, 1494 Pebblestone Drive, Burlington.
