BURLINGTON - Paul Hillard May, 84, of 5533 Burlington Road, McLeansville, N.C., died at Ashton Place in McLeansville on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at 4 a.m. after several years of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Ira Dean May and Olive Isley May, both deceased. He was an electrical engineer with Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Dean May of Wilmington, N.C. and Roger Moore May of Nashville, Tenn.; stepson, Gregory Lynn Staley of Elon, N.C.; two brothers Howard May and Avery May; and three sisters, Jeanette Gibbs, Betty Case and Ann Wilkinson.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Mark Mofield. The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson in Burlington from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
