BURLINGTON - Mrs. Paula Dean Bennington, 63, met her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 11:40 a.m. at her residence.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of Richard Ernest Atkins, who survives, and the late Jerry Reed Atkins.
She spent the majority of her life as an administrative assistant for United Way in Wake County. Paula had many hobbies, none that she loved more than dancing and traveling.
In addition to her father, survivors include three children, Christopher Bennington and wife Jennifer of Apex, Jennifer Hudson and husband Eric of Winston-Salem and Patrick Bennington and wife Grace of Burlington; four grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Jack and Luke; two brothers, Rick Atkins and Jimmy Atkins; and her beloved cat, Chloe.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Robert Wortham, with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the home of the son, Patrick Bennington, 1937 Glenkirk Drive, Burlington, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Guilford County Animal Shelter, 4525 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27409.
