GRAHAM - Mrs. Rala Bulla Hardie, 93, formerly of Burlington, died at Davis Healthcare Center, Wilmington, N.C. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 11:02 a.m.

A native of Randolph County, she was the wife of the late James Hill Hardie Jr. and the daughter of William Oscar Bulla Sr. and Myrtle Hester Bulla, both deceased. She retired from Belk department store. Since 1942, Rala has been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include four daughters, Virginia Pyrtle and husband Harold of Wilmington, Sue Smith and husband Steve of Franklin, Tenn., Doris White and husband Craig of Seabrook, Texas and Julia Kaczvinsky and husband Don of Ruston, La.; son, Ben Abbott Hardie and wife Karen of Trinity; brother, Don Bulla and wife Marcelle of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Bennie Lee Bulla, Rachael Fraylick and Dora Teston and three brothers, Dan Bulla, James Bulla and William Bulla Jr. and a grandson, Ian Geoffrey Hardie.
The funeral service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Graham on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Marshall Old with the family receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
