GRAHAM - Mr. Ralph Edward Godwin, 69, 1407 Branson Drive, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. He fought cancer for 18 years and struggled the last two years. He will be missed by a host of loving friends.
He was of the Baptist faith and he was preceded in death by his blessed parents, Victor and Ruth Bean Godwin; and brother, Johnny Godwin. Ralph was loved by the King family as one of their own and was preceded in death by his blessed mother and father-in-law, Roy and Bessie King.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane King Godwin, of the home; daughter, Amanda Godwin Greeson Phillips and husband Barry Lee Phillips, of Graham; son, Eddie Godwin, of Burlington; five grandchildren, Destiny Greeson, Hannah Godwin, Hailey Godwin, Keileigh Phillips and Hunter Cashion; former daughter-in-law, Stephanie Cashion Godwin; sisters, Vickie Duggins, Ella Johnson, both of Burlington; brothers, Jerry Godwin, Ricky Godwin, and Bobby Godwin, all of Burlington; loving brother-in-law, Beverly King; and sisters-in-law, Pat Johnson and Grace Underwood.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Pegg. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and at other times at the residence of the family.
The family requests for donations to be made to the Ralph Godwin Funeral Fund in care of McClure Funeral Home.
