GRAHAM, N.C. - Richard Keith Hodson peacefully passed away in his sleep at home on Jan. 3, 2013.
Born to Harold Keith and Helen Hodson and raised in Indianola, Iowa, Rick moved to High Point, N.C. in 1982 after graduating from Iowa State University with degrees in Journalism and Political Science. Rick spent the rest of his life in the Triad, working in journalism, communication, and state government, while continuing his studies at UNC-G with a Master's in Public Administration and acting as a mentor in media production.
He was a strongly dedicated member of his community, as well as a loving father, brother, and husband. His work spanned from local news reporting, communication production for Lorillard Tobacco Company and writing for History Channel Club magazine to volunteering with Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre, the Public Relations Society of America and Odyssey of the Mind.
Rick is survived by his wife, Lizbeth Anne; son, Harold Keith; daughter, Kathryn Anne; sisters, Margaret Jane Utley and Markoline Johnson; and a large extended family.
A dedicated family man, he has been a devoted husband for 30 years and inspirational father for 26. His family hopes to continue the positive influence he has had on the local community, and will forever keep his strong character and values in their hearts.
His family will receive friends at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10th. The visitation will be followed by an 11 a.m. service at the funeral home with burial at a family plot in Sandyville Cemetery.
The immediate family appreciates all of the outreach they have received in the past days, though there will be no public service for Rick in North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be made to Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre, P.O. Box 535, Snow Camp, NC 27349.
