PROSPECT HILL, N.C. - Roxie Smith Rudd, 88, of 2760 Ridgeville Road, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.

Mrs. Rudd was born June 10, 1925, a native of Caswell County. She was the wife of the late Hassel "Hoover" Nicks Rudd. She was also predeceased by her parents Charlie and Belva Oakes Smith; sister, Helen Smith Warren; son, Rickie Kim Rudd; grandson, Jeffrey Lee Rudd; and "special" first cousin, Christine Oakes Caulder.
She is survived by her sons Ronald Dwight Rudd and wife Peggy of Prospect Hill, Randy Nicks Rudd and wife Judy of Yanceyville, and Rennie Jay Rudd of Mebane, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rudd was a very loving mother who worked hard all of her life and loved her family dearly. She loved cooking big meals for her family and enjoyed them all getting together at her home. She was a Charter Member of Grace Independent Baptist Church of Cedar Grove, N.C. where she served as an active choir member for many years. She always expressed her joy at sending cards to friends and family. She called this "her ministry" for the Lord. She was also a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, class of 1942.
She retired from AT&T Technologies and Lucent with 19 years of service. She was also a life-time member of Pioneers of America.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Independent Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, conducted by Pastors Charles Hamilton and Art McGahan. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service and at other times at the home of Mrs. Rudd, 2760 Ridgeville Road, Prospect Hill, N.C. Graveside service will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and love to the caring staff and physicians in the Critical Care Unit of Alamance Regional Medical Center.
