ROAN MOUNTAIN, Tenn. - Ruby Maxine Shell, 92, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 at White Oak Manor in Burlington, N.C. She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Ed and Belvie Miller Shell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon "Red" Shell, in 1994; six brothers, Walter, Millard, Astor, Lacey, Mack, and Paul; a half brother, Creed Shell; three sisters, Mary Lou Hoss, Elaine Shell, and Melissa Hopson; and a half sister, Missy Sharp.
Ms. Shell had worked at North American Rayon and was a member of Upper Shell Creek Christian Church in Roan Mountain, Tenn.
Survivors include two daughters, Roma Jean Holt and husband Larry of Burlington, N.C. and Alta Ann Woods and husband Charles of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Travis Clark, Shannon Clark, Kevin Holt and Todd Holt; great-grandson, Travis Clark Jr.; great-granddaughter, Ava Nevaeh Clark; and brother, Odell Shell, Roan Mountain.
Private services for Ms. Shell were held in the Caraway Cemetery.
