BURLINGTON - Mrs. Ruth McPherson Edwards, 91, formerly of Bland Boulevard, Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at 4:40 a.m., following several years declining health and one week critical illness.

A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of Robert and Maggie McPherson, both deceased. She was a caregiver at Myra's TLC Daycare after retiring from the textile industry. Ruth attended Burlington Assembly of God. She enjoyed the fellowship at the Friendship Center prior to going to assisted living at Homeplace of Burlington.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Williams of Graham and Myra Gilliam of Burlington; five grandchildren, Shon Gilliam and wife Katy of Mebane, Jeff Clifton and wife Beth of Gibsonville, Wendy Ryan of Graham, Shea Clifton of Burlington and Mike Edwards and wife Teresa of Mebane; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Arbutus "Bookie" Gates of Gibsonville; and a brother, Kenny Johnson of Gibsonville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Edwards; two grandchildren, Scott Clifton and Rodney Edwards; and a twin brother, Ferrell McPherson.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Howard Thompson, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. At other times, they will be at the residence of a daughter, Judy Williams, 101 Haley Court, Graham, N.C.
